Tiles come in many styles, plain, patterned or mosaic to name three, their uses are plentiful. How many different kinds of tiles there are? Well many, including tiles used for roofing, flooring, ceiling and decorative purposes.
Being the earliest invented for use in houses, roofing tiles are used to keep out the rain and heat at the same time protecting us from the cold during the winter season. Roof tiles are basically those that cover the roof and prevent the elements from entering the house.
Most kitchens and bathrooms use floor tiles due to their permeability, these floor tiles are sometimes used on walls as well, due to their resistance to water. Ceiling tiles are different in structure from the others. They need to be lighter so that they do not fall off the ceiling as they are only held in place by glue.
Decorative tiles are designed to influence a space, be it office or home. These decorative tiles can be flat or nobly depending on the desired effect required. Most other styles of tiles are flat.
Many countries having their own styles of tiles, my personal favorite being Mosaic Moroccan Tiles; these are still hand made and take many hours to produce enough tiles just to cover one wall. They are also wood fired, meaning each batch is unique.
